Love Conquers

“Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5 CEV). Dwelling on an offence for too long can cause bitterness, which in turn can lead to depression. The moment you permit anger to linger when someone offends you, you’re on your way into depression.

Depression is an extreme degree of sadness and it’s unhealthy; it could open the door of your life to devils and all kinds of diseases. It quenches the Spirit, creates a heaviness of the heart, destabilises and slows spiritual growth, and eventually causes you to work out of the will of God.
You have the ability to conquer and overcome depression through God’s love. The Bible says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

It’s not God’s will for you to be depressed and walk in bitterness. He’d rather have you function in love. God’s Word can build you so that your emotions will always function in the direction of love. When you’re functioning in God’s love, you wouldn’t ponder on the wrong that has been done to you, because your emotions will be completely dominated by the love of God. Love is a product of a transformed life. By this I mean the transformation that comes from a regenerated spirit. In 2 Timothy 1:7 the Bible says, “For God hath not given us the
spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Conquer every situation with love today.
